The Iowa Network for Community Agriculture (INCA), a grassroots organization dedicated to making connections between consumers and producers in growing and eating local food announces its annual conference “Our Food: Safe, Sustaining, and Soulful.” This year’s conference, held in Grinnell, Iowa, February 6-7, is hosted in partnership with the Grinnell Area Local Food Alliance (GALFA). The conference has a history of offering plenty of time for networking, features a potluck lunch on Saturday, and lots of humor.

Message from INCA President Penny Brown Huber
This year’s Local Food Conference will be an excellent opportunity to learn about Iowa’s growing local food system, share experiences from those who are producing and using local foods and hear of ways to build a local food system in your community.

We had an excellent committee working hard over the last four months to make this an interesting and dynamic conference.  I think you will see that this is true in the compelling workshops we have put in place.  We are honored to have two featured speakers this year:  Robert Wolf, executive director of the Free River Press and author of The Triumph of Technique:  the Industrialization of Agriculture and Tom Lacina, President of Wildwood Harvest Foods, Inc.  And finally, the opportunity to work with the people of the Grinnell Area Local Food Alliance in putting this year’s conference together, was very encouraging.   I hope you will find the time to join us in February as we celebrate and learn more about our ever changing and dynamic local food system in Iowa.
